Natchez Trace Tour Update II

OK less than 25 days to go and the NT Tour is fast approaching and still deciding whether to take the bus into Nashville early Saturday morning or leave late Friday afternoon and stay at a Hotel.. Searched for hotels that are around the Bus depot and found out that the NCAA Basketball Tournament is the same weekend, so rooms start at $400, that is more than my total cost of my entire trip, so that is out of the question.

Downloaded the Adventure Cycling Great Rivers route then imported into Google Maps which includes Natchez Trace Parkway and ends in Baton Rouge. Looked over the suggested route from Natchez, MS to Baton Rouge and looks pretty good, although it's a few extra miles than the route I mapped out, but probably more scenic.

Next thing is checking the weather for first overnight stop Accuweather.com has extended forecast 25 days out and its showing high 55 low 32 and the avg is high 64 and low 42, I hope they are wrong on this long range forecast. This should be the most extreme weather and noticed that for every 100 miles traveling southbound on average the highs and lows will increase by 1 to 2 degrees. So there is a delta of 10 degrees between Nashville and New Orleans which makes a world of difference when on a bicycle. In Jackson, MS which is about 200 miles south Accuweather shows 64 high and low 44 now that is more like it. So it is a good chance of cold weather in the morning for the first 2 days.
